This March we celebrated our 5th birthday and prepared a couple of surprises for our partners.
This time we’d like to take our time and reflect on these 5 years by sitting down and chatting with not only one of our partners but last year’s Royal Joker contest winner. He’s been our partner for almost a year and we couldn’t be more proud of the cooperation. Hope you’ll enjoy our Q&A session.
Q: Hey Walter, thank you so much for your time. So excited to have you here! Please tell us a little bit about how you ended up working in the iGaming industry.
A: Hi, thank you for asking me for the interview! It's actually not the first time that I ended up in the iGaming industry. I was involved with various brands in 2014 but it didn't last for longer than 6 months. At that time, the affiliate programs weren't as streamlined as today and the whole process was too cumbersome. Overall it was a bad experience. In 2020, a friend mentioned about good results in the iGaming industry and that I should give it a try. I was reluctant at first due to my past experience, but was happy to discover that the industry had caught up in regards to their affiliate operations. Besides that, my tests turned out profitable.
Q: Why iGaming? Have you ever worked with the Dating or Crypto industries? What makes iGaming so appealing to you?
A: To be honest, I think there isn't a niche that I haven't touched. I've been around for a very long time. Industries come and go but iGaming is one that's here to stay. That's what appeals to me the most.
Q: You’re working solo. Why’s that? Don’t you think working in a team can boost your results?
A: I'm really bad at delegating tasks to others. That's one reason. The main reason, however, is that I've had negative experiences with so-called team members in the past. I occasionally utilize freelancers to help me with certain tasks. While friends have teams that enhance their results, I'm content with my current situation.
Q: Let’s talk about traffic sources. Which one is your top choice? Which one would you recommend for the very beginners?
A: My preferred traffic source is PPC. I can't honestly recommend a specific traffic source for beginners in iGaming, as I'm not familiar with any 'easy' ones. While it's simple to spend on any source, making it profitable quickly becomes complex. However, I'm confident that iGaming can work on most, if not all, major traffic sources.
Q: Great point. What about GEOs? Do you choose them based on Tiers or regions, or are there some other factors that influence your choice?
A: The amount of available offers is the only thing I look for in choosing a GEO. After a choice has been made, it's a matter of results if I choose to stay in that GEO.
Q: What about Royal Partners? How did you wind up here and become a partner?
A: I believe that I ended up here because of the STM forums.
Q: How smooth was your very first experience of working with Royal Partners? Was the onboarding process easy?
A: Super smooth! It was the smoothest experience I've had in a while, actually.
Q: Let’s switch to your first traffic flow. Were you and the affiliate program satisfied with the results?
A: Yes, right from the start. But I was already running traffic and only had to plug your brands in.
Q: Were there any major problems once you’ve signed up? Would you say that open and trustworthy communication with the affiliate manager was the key to success?
A: I didn't have problems with traffic or the affiliate program but there were some other related issues that were solved. My affiliate manager is the best!
Q: A little tricky one here. Please be honest. What are the pros and cons of working with Royal Partners? If there is something that sets us apart from the competition?
A: Quality traffic is appreciated by Royal Partners and it seems the traffic is also better dealt with. Royal Partners' results have become my standard to which I compare other operators. If they can't match the results I get at Royal Partners, I simply stop promoting them. No cons!

A: Okay!
Q: Who or what is the source of inspiration for you? Maybe someone from the iGaming industry?
A: I have no source of inspiration.
Q: Name top-3 books any entrepreneur should have read.
A: I would suggest reading books unrelated to your work. (Pro Tip!).
Q: What are the most valuable skills for an affiliate and why?
A: Data Analysis: Learn how to interpret the data from your campaigns and optimize them accordingly. In my opinion, the ability to achieve this quickly and cost-effectively is an extremely valuable skill.
Q: Do you have a side hustle or plan to have one?
A: Yes, I have quite a few side hustles.
Q: At Royal Partners we try to attend as many offline events as possible. It’s an awesome way to meet the partners in person or just chat with the professionals from the industry in person. What about you? Do you visit such events often? If so, which one do you like the most?
A: I used to visit affiliate marketing events a long time ago but then they went on the whitehat path, became really boring and unrelated to whatever I'm doing. So, I can't be bothered any more. That being said, the iGaming industry has its own events and they are on a different level. I do visit iGaming events when they don't require too much traveling. So far, I like IGB the most. However, I'd rather spend some time with partners in a less formal fashion.
Q: What’s the future for the iGaming industry? New GEOs, traffic sources etc.
A: I hope some new GEOs. As for new traffic sources, I already have enough headaches keeping the current ones up.
